Slash's Birthday
Last week we hosted a special two-night birthday party for rock 'n' roll guitar icon Slash at Bare pool and JET Nightclub. Celebrities definitely turned up for this rocker's b-day, which saw some amazing live performances and collaborations that you normally would never expect - like Slash and Fergie (Black Eyed Peas). Trust me, this was one of the best events I've ever been to in Vegas.
The night started with a special rock DJ set from Perry Ferrell (Jane's Addiction), who set the mood for the night's festivities. Slash then came out on stage joined by Royston Langdon (lead singer of Spacehog), followed by an array of additional special guests like Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains), Perry Ferrell and Jason Bonham (son of Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham). Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top made a surprise appearance and performed one of my favorite songs of all time, "Sharp Dressed Man." Finally after all that Slash brought out Fergie and the duo did a phenomenal version of "Sweet Child of Mine" followed by Heart's "Barracuda."
It was at this point I took off to make sure I could handle the second night of this wild two-night birthday celebration. I realized that despite any previous thoughts I may have had, I can NOT party like a rockstar.
The next night, Slash did a special acoustic performance at JET with Jerry Cantrell and Tom Morrello (Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave). The three song performance was fantastic, and it was followed by a massive six foot birthday cake presentation from JET's staff to the rock 'n' roll icon. In addition to the live performance, special celebrity DJ will.i.am (Black Eyed Peas) spun the beats that kept the energy levels high all night long.
This was definitely one of those events that come to Vegas only a few times a year and I am so glad I was able to make it out - despite the fact that I am exhausted and my dreams of a rockstar lifestyle are crushed.
Well that's it for this week!
