7 Questions with Steven Lockwood
Welcome to the first of many segments that I call "7 Questions." Each week, we'll delve into the minds of various Light Group employees and ask them (shocker…) seven questions. These questions will have no real structure and will deal with whatever issues or topics that are imagined in my crooked mind. For the inception of this new weekly segment I have chosen to feature JET's Marketing Director Steven Lockwood. "7 Questions" begins now.
Matt (Me): So how'd you get started in this industry and become JET's Marketing Director?
Lockwood (Lock): Well I started out when I was in college at UNLV. I was in a fraternity and did promotions work. Since I always had a lot of girls I brought into the clubs I naturally just wound up in the industry for a career. After I quit from RA, at the Luxor, I wound up becoming a host for JET. I pretty much just ate, slept and breathed the club, doing everything I could to be involved with marketing events that were happening. Then when the opening became available, I went for it and got it.
Me: So out of everything you've done, what would you say is your favorite event?
Lock: Well, the one I'm working on right now definitely is, but I can't talk about that yet (laughs). So I'll say Boobs-or-Bust II. Tons of hot girls running around the club trying to get fake "Boob Bucks" from customers where the girl who collected the most won a free boob job – it got crazy!
Me: JET always has celebrities visiting and hanging out every week. Who's your favorite celebrity and why?
Lock: Fergie. She was an absolute sweetheart - plus she had a cake fight with Nelly and Quentin Tarantino in the back hallway of JET (laughs).
Me: Nice. Well on to another celebrity. Describe your thoughts about Britney Spears in 8 words or less?
Lock: She needs to come to my nightclub.
Me: Nice, you did that in seven words without any hesitation.
Lock: (laughing) I know. I love Britney.
Me: Alright then, in your expert opinion what is the best food to cure a hangover?
Lock: Del Taco Chicken Quesadilla.
Me: I agree on Del Taco, but disagree with your menu choice. Big Fat Chicken Taco reigns supreme as the post-binder food of choice.
Lock: (laughs)
Me: So, which is better, "little people" or strippers?
Lock: (with even less hesitation than the Britney question) Strippers!
Me: Alright and finally, the question the entire world is dying to know, what’s up with hair?
Lock: (laughing) It's my trademark. Everyone knows me by it and I've been coloring it for the last three years. It makes me stand out.
Me: (laughing) It definitely does that. Well, that's all. I don't have any more nonsense for you, but since you're the first on this segment you get to decide who I get to bother for next week's "7 Questions" and pick one question to ask them.
Lock: That's easy. Jake Saady. And ask him how he gets his hair so curly. (laughs)
Me: Done and done. Thanks.
Lock: Sure thing. Now will you get out of my cube so I can work?- Posted Thursday, April 10, 2008
